Virtual – Vienna in the Third Reich
IT’S NEW – IT’S MODERN – IT’S INSTRUCTIVE!
Modern technology is amazing… and offers a whole new format for today’s school kids.
This tour was designed in particular for American and Canadian highschool kids!
It is about a special aspect of the Holocaust: young Adolf Hitler, his unsuccessful Vienna years, and how he was shaped in Vienna’s culture of the day to become one of the bloodiest dictators in human history.
We will visit places where young Hitler went in his unglamorous years trying to be an artist of sorts. We will explore what influences were found particularly in Vienna (a special type of antisemitism) and why he left Vienna and set out for Germany.
We will then discuss how Hitler managed to move up in his new country Germany and how he annexed Austria (and what the Austrians thought of it).
This tour will end with a reflection onto where Austria stands today in terms of antisemitism and acceptance of complicity in WW II.
There is room for student questions and a small discussion after the tour.
You can expect this to be an interesting experience for your highschool kids!
